xx Nerve pain?
« Thread started on: Jun 1st, 2010, 10:24am »

I have been told this new nerve pain I have been getting is not a side effect of meds, which I had assumed, but rather from the FMS itself. However, I have never, in the many years of having this, had this sort of pain. It began in the arches of my feet and became so painful I could not walk, I had to shuffle and each step hurt like hell. Then it moved into my wrists and felt a lot like tendanitis, but more intense and made it difficult to do anything including write. I can't take anti-inflammatories, but they would not work anyway, since there is no inflamation. Nor is this in the muscles. It is actual nerve pain.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I have by the way found a med that helps with it, that being Lyrica and Cymbalta, but it just does not seem like an FMS thing to me.

It seems as though once we get a DX the medical society trys to attribute everything to it, doesn't it? It's so discouraging when that happens.

Exactly! It certainly seems every time I have a new symptom it is all 'oh that the FMS'.... and once it was not, it was asthma, and then there was that other time where it was hypothyroidism... so, yeah, a little annoying when they make sure assumptions.

This one rather troubles me. There are other conditions that cause nerve pain and I would hate to think I have one of them and am not being treated for it. There are afterall some condtions like Lupus and MS that run through my family... I rather like to think I have avoided them, becuase I have FMS and can't be That unlucky.
